Grueling 2,500 hand heads up match

I just finished a grueling heads up session of 10/20 draw against -acace-. The match last almost eight hours and probably totaled close to 2,500 hands. We both finally decided that it was time for bed and the war will resume another day. I am glad to continue the match, if you know what I mean. During the match, many specific situations came up in which I had a different approach than normal. Much of the reason because my opponent was much looser and more aggressive than most of my opponents in the past. An example, I have a high pair like QQ234 on the button which I would never think to slowplay but since my opponent would raise any hand I limped with I chose to just call. He continues the betting post-draw and I call even without improvement having QQxxx ahead his range of hands he makes this play with. This led to much higher variance of course but it was well worth it knowing I would get a very long session out of him.

The rest of my matches last night did not go so well but I can't complain. I don't think I played my best tonight and I attribute that to some other things on my mind. Never again will I have heated instant messenger arguments while playing cards. My new short-term goal will be to work on my level of concentration. Once I move I will start exercising a lot more which should really make a difference.

This past week I have worked very hard and put a lot of time (approx 60 hours)into my game. I've been really trying to buckle down on the number of hours I'm putting in as I'm getting closer and closer to my next big goal. As a reward this weekend I'm going to try to do something nice for myself. I'm just not quite sure what yet.

Up All Night

Last night traffic was great for heads up draw. I stayed up till 9AM because so many people sat in. During the matches I found myself playing much better only playing one match at a time instead of up to three simultaneously. I generated more rake than I ever have at the tables yesterday. I'll play for a little while now then perhaps call it a night (or morning even) for poker. I can't wait for my road trip and move out to Vegas in six weeks.

First royal flush in 5CD

I've played more poker in the last 48 hours than I ever have in a short period of time.
Last night I was dealt a diamond royal flush which was nice to top it off. There is nothing to do tonight so I'll just play a lot of cards.

Jekyll and Hyde draw opponent

One of my opponents tonight was a complete maniac. One hand he was on the button and raised, I 3 bet with QQ24K, he capped and I called. I drew three and he drew two, he bet post-draw and I called. He showed a pair of sixes and I won the pot. The next four out of five hands he power folds, three of them pre-draw. How does a player go from too LAP then to weak-tight or fold-tight even in a matter of one hand ?

Friend 1 and Friend 2 Battle

I hate when an opponent sits for 15 minutes, takes about a few bets then leaves way before I'd like him to. Maybe I'll start another column for hit n runs, then I might be more like 11-1-0-3 ? Now I'm turning into the Phil Hellmuth of draw. I watched some videos of him throwing a fit at youtube.com today. I could easily spend three hours at that site.

Tonight I played a live play money mixed game with a few friends of mine. We started with HORSE then move onto TD, Badugi, Omaha high, Kansas City, Chicago and finished up with NL Hold Em. I was quickly eliminated in the NL Hold Em and it was heads up between Friend 1 and Friend 2. The stacks were close to even and all of us were getting tired. Friend 1 raised on the button with K3o and Friend 2 reraised all-in with JJ. Friend 1 called and I dealt the flop 3 7 T. The turn was no help and neither was the river. However, while Friend 2 was looking away momentarily I flipped through the deck to find a king to deal for the river. To Friend 2's surpise he suffered an unlucky beat. Now that I think about it I think Friend 2 really wanted to win, his JJ deserved it and I feel bad. I'll tell him tomorrow.

Heads up draw

It's been quite awhile since I've posted. I'm playing a lot of heads up limit draw again so I'll be posting some hands of interest and my record in matches for the day. Too bad most draw hands aren't interesting ! Most of the matches I play are 10/20 sometimes down to 2/4. Here are a few conditions that must be met in order for the match to count :

-Must make at least three bets to win (yes only three because there is only one big bet round in the game)

-Must play at least 25 hands

-If no one wins more than three bets no either side then it's a tie

I watched some heads up 25/50 euro PL draw at 24hpoker.com pretty insane. A game like draw with all cards concealed and being pot limit on top of that is going to lead itself to some big time bluffs at these stakes. Maybe I can work up to it someday if I get my PL game striaght.

I love how variance is so lower in limit draw than any other game.
